I no longer work for Manjaro
Since the beginning of 2021, I have been contracted by the Manjaro company to work on Manjaro ARM.
It was a bumpy ride at first, to understand what work was for the community and what was for the company, but I think I got a grip on what was what after a couple of months. All was well.
As of March 1st 2023, I am no longer under contract for Manjaro. This means that I am no longer obligated to contribute work to Manjaro that will benefit the company. I will no longer be paid for my contributions and time spent on anything Manjaro related.
I have also stopped contributing as a volunteer as we had a falling out after the contract ended.
It does however present a couple of problems for me.
For one, I'm unemployed. Meaning I will have to apply for government unemployment support and my income will decrease significantly. I was barely making enough as it was, so I'm not sure where the rest is gonna come from.
Secondly, I am searching for another job, but there are not many available in a field I want to work, especially since I don't have any certificates or even programming skills. I would love for a proper job, so I know how much I earn, but I will also look for new contract work, maybe even some small income things here and there.
I recently wanted to upgrade my home server, as it's currently running on a Raspberry Pi, hosting services like this blog, Nextcloud, Jellyfin, Wireguard and a couple of websites. But that idea has been postponed, until I have some funds to do it. Will likely take a while in my current situation. If you want to help out on that end, here's a link to my patreon. When I can get the server upgraded, I can actually offer some of the services to paying clients.
